Bomaderry
Bomaderry is situated on the northern side of the Shoalhaven River, 4 km from Nowra and takes its name from the Aboriginal meaning ‘fighting ground’ or ‘running water’. The township dates back to the late 1800′s when it was laid out by David Berry. Bomaderry Creek Regional Park is a rich oasis of quiet bushland on the edge of the town of Bomaderry. A small sandstone gorge is the main natural feature of the park. It has overhangs and sheer rock faces and cradles a creek that meanders along a stony bed. Patches of remnant rain forest, hanging swamps and dry woodland enlivened by bright flowers in spring make for a delightfully varied little park.It is a good place to escape the urban bustle; to relax, bring the family, picnic, take a walk and perhaps pick up some facts about the surprising range of plant types here.
