Assignment Guidelines

As a carer of young children and as a representative of Daisycare Nanny Agency™ there are certain expectations to be met…

ALWAYS -

  • Remember YOU are solely responsible for children in your care – at all times.
  • Ensure the constant safety and supervision of all children in your care.
  • Research the location of the babysitting session – so you know how to get there
  • Remember YOU are solely responsible for children in your care – at all time
  • Try to take along some books, toys or games suitable for the children. Better still take your own Babysitter Kit.
  • To engage in child focused activities that are age appropriate, interest-based and help to develop key learning areas and areas of development.
  • Aim to arrive about 10 minutes early to each babysitter session
  • Present yourself in a professional manner at all babysitting assignments
  • Remember you are representing not just yourself – but our agency as well
  • Contact the client first – in the case of an emergency. Contact the agency immediately if you are unsure of what to do
  • Tidy up after playing with the children or feeding them a meal
  • Leave the house/hotel room as tidy as it was when you arrived
  • Leave a Assignment Summary for the client that explains what the children did while they were in your care
  • Immediately let the agency know if you have issues or concerns about a babysitting session
  • To respect and uphold the family’s privacy and confidentiality at all times.

DO NOT –

  • Give medication to any child in your care – unless the client has completed the medication form.
  • Smoke while you are at any babysitting sessions – this is a big no-no
  • Consume alcohol or any restricted substances before or during a babysitting session
  • Remove the children from the babysitting session without the client’s permission
  • Eat or drink anything from the client’s house/hotel room unless given permission to do so
  • Leave the children unattended or in the care of a 3rd party, at anytime throughout the babysitting session
  • Use any type of physical punishment on any child Daisycare Nanny Agency protects and respects the right of the child
  • Use the client’s phone – unless it is an emergency or pre-arranged with the client
  • Allow other persons entry to the client’s house/hotel room without prior consent of the client
  • Ask a client for more than the agreed hourly rate of payment

Daisycare Nanny Agency™ and Early childhood professionals have a strong history of advocating on behalf of children and their families and we use and adhere to Early Childhood Australia’ Code of Ethics as it provides a basis for critical reflection, a guide for professional behaviour, and principles to inform individual and collective decision-making.
