Communication Diary

Daisycare Nanny Agency™ understands that behind every good relationship there has to be excellent communication. A good diary allows a page a day to write the important events of the day regarding the child, If you care for a baby it is very helpful to know what they have slept, eaten and how much just as records would be kept formal child care services. One place to allocate essential names and addresses the parent or nanny requires, such as doctors, dentists, parent’s work telephone numbers, and emergency contact numbers, etc.

For Parents

It can give a parent peace of mind, one look in the diary shows how the day went what has happened and how they were during the day. Great for casual babysitters for the night as it can give the babysitter an indication of your child/ren’s day and give her/him “the heads up” on the night. Such as how they have been during the day e.g. Might have had a busy day, to short of a sleep, or woke up early. If a temporary nanny is required, it also helps to make a smooth transition for that period, as the temporary nanny can refer to the permanent nanny’s notes and vice versa when the permanent nanny returns.

Even simple things like meal times can be made easier, as the parent or nanny can avoid repeating the same menu the following day, and leave instructions for the nanny on what’s in the fridge and what you would like the children to eat for the day. Great for the grocery list and how much easier is it to have someone pick up some milk and bread while they are out for a walk.

For Nannies

A diary provides an invaluable aid to communication between yourself and the parent, and simply is a written form of tracking and remembering the changes in the child as they develop in as much detail as you want (or the parents have requested). For those with qualifications and if this is applicable in your position should use this for programming and developing a program for the children in your care. This could include checklists, observations, activities in and outside the home and developmental record. For mother’s helpers and those new to the Nanny Profession it will assist with the routine of the day and the duties required to do during the day.

It’s a lovely record of the events in the children’s lives and a record of your input you have had into your family’s lives.
